Our Holiday Park in Sherwood Forest

Frequently
Asked Questions at Our Sherwood Campsite

Most asked questions at our campsite

We welcome thousands upon thousands to our holiday park each year, and whilst many are returning guests, a lot are new to camping or have recently purchased a caravan or camper. Regardless of your experience, our team are here to help you during your stay, providing you with a level of service to remember. We receive hundreds of phone calls and emails every week, with some of the questions below frequently asked by prospective guests. No question is a silly one, so if you still need to know something, please give us a call or send us a message through our contact page.

Do I need to book in advance?

We strongly recommend booking in advance. During the summer months and on bank holidays we are fully booked long in advance. However, it is always worth checking with us on the day in case there has been a cancellation. During the winter, pitches are usually available at short notice.

What types of pitch do you have?

We have pitches to suit everyone, from large motor homes to the smallest tent. All pitches on the main site have electric hook up points and digital freeview TV points. We have grass or hard-standing pitches. We also have a camping field which is ideal for back to basic campers who do not require electricity. The field does have two water taps, two very clean toilets and guests are welcome to use the free shower and toilet facilities on the main site.

What am I allowed on my pitch?

A pitch includes your caravan, motor home or tent, an awning, a car, and 2 adults. Should you wish to put anything else on your pitch, such as a gazebo or extra car, please ask at reception and we will do our best to accommodate you, although a small charge will be made at busy times.

Facilities for children?

We have two play parks. One for the younger children and one for the over twelve year olds. Many of our younger visitors enjoy riding bikes around the safety of our park (a vehicle speed limit of 5mph is strictly enforced) or fishing in our river. There are many other attractions locally (see local area) and information about these can be found in reception.

Shower and toilet facilities?

We have five toilet and showers blocks located throughout the site. We take great pride to ensure they are clean and well maintained. There are shaving points in the gents and the blocks are heated in winter. We also have two disabled toilet and shower facilities and there is no extra charge to use these. There are also undercover dish washing areas located adjacent to each toilet block.

Do you allow group bookings?

We do not allow single sex or party group bookings. If you are a family or group of friends with children wishing to holiday together, then you will be permitted, subject to availability and your agreement to abide by the site rules. This is to protect the peace and enjoyment of other campers. Any group causing a disturbance will be asked to leave and no refund will be given.

What time can I arrive?

Arrivals are welcome from 12 noon. Late arrivals should report to the warden on duty, who will be displaying a sign and located close to reception (see our interactive map).

What time do I have to leave?

Please vacate your pitch by 11am. If you wish to stay later please book a late departure. All Sunday departures are by 7pm allowing you to enjoy the whole weekend.

Do you have a shop?

Indeed, our shop stocks all the basics such as milk, eggs and bread, and the often forgotten essentials such as toilet rolls and toothbrushes. We also stock a wide range of discounted camping and caravanning goods. Our prices are hard to beat so do come and have a look around. Our shop is open all year round and is also open to non residents.

When is the park open?

Our holiday park is open all year round. Why not consider spending Christmas or New Year with us? Our Halloween weekends are also incredibly popular.

Are there maximum sizes?

To pitch on our site we only accept tents up to a maximum of 7 metres, and caravans and motorhomes up to 28 foot. Please check measurements of your unit before booking.

Is there a laundrette?

We have two washers and two dryers and a large sink for hand washing. There is also an ironing board and it is possible to hire an iron from reception.

Can I bring my dog?

Yes, we are a dog friendly holiday park with plenty of local trails and routes to walk your dog, even within the park itself. Dogs are most welcome, but must be on a short lead at all times whilst at our site. A charge of £1.50 per dog per night is made.

Do you allow rallies?

We welcome enquires from rally organisers and can offer pitches on the main site or use of the non lectric rally field. We also have space available for rally groups to use for meetings or social events.

Do you have a bar or club house?

No. We pride ourselves on being a peaceful site, mainly suited to young families and couples. There are a choice of pubs and restaurants locally and we often have catering vans on site during weekends in the summer months.

How do I book a pitch?

You can either call us to make a booking, or use our online booking facility to make a request. We will require a deposit of £20 per pitch for all bookings. If you are making a booking within two months of your arrival date, you will need to make full payment at the time of booking. We accept all major credit and debit cards.

Do you allow ball sports?

Due to potential damage to property, footballs, rugby balls or any other hard ball are not to be used on site under any circumstances.

Can I listen to music?

In consideration to all our visitors, music can be played at a personal level and not after 10.30pm. From then through to 8am all noise must be kept to a minimum. If you feel you are not able to comply with this, please inform us before arrival.
