Christmas is nearly here, but there's still plenty of fun to be had in and around Sherwood Forest Holiday Park. Get into the festive spirit and enjoy a truly magical start to winter by visiting Sparkling Sherwood 2015. Take an illuminating adventure and discover Sherwood’s ancient oak trees sparkling like diamonds as you walk through an illuminated forest. This event takes place just a couple of miles away from us at the Sherwood Major Oak from Friday 11th December to Sunday the 13th September 2015, a memorable experience to treasure. Tickets are £3 in advance and can be booked over the phone on 01623 823202.

Regarding security, some of you may have noticed that we are in the process of installing new barriers around the park. This will mean that you will only be able to drive to reception and not to specific areas or pitches. Should you wish to take your caravan off-site, you will need to make prior arrangement with our office beforehand. Over the next few months we will also installing some new electric phases and upgrading our outside lighting. We will be working our way through the park, so please be patient with us.

Will you be stopping with us over the festive period? If so, there will be a warden on duty at all times and our reception will also be manned. Please check our shop door for opening hours. The school holidays might be over, but there's still plenty of fun to be had in and around Sherwood Forest Holiday Park. It's nearly time for this year's Major Oak Woodland Festival, a special weekend celebrating the life and history of the great British woodland. You’ll have chance to meet and learn about bodgers, chair makers and charcoal making, with displays throughout the day. The event takes place just a couple of miles away from us at the Sherwood Major Oak on Saturday the 12th and Sunday the 13th September 2015.

Some of you may have seen we had honey bees settle on our site, which have now been rehomed. Interest was shown by David Bellamy's office and the story was also retweeted by BBC's Countryfile. If you see anything of interest when staying with us, please let us know in the office and share you experience on Facebook.

Thank you to all those who entered our photography competition in August. We have judged all the entries and wish to congratulate Jo Baker on Sycamore, who wins a case of wine. Are you pitched with us at the moment? Our general manager Andrew will be doing pitch inspections over the next few weeks, so please ensure your area is clean and tidy. The school holidays are here it's nearly time for this year's Robin Hood Festival. The week-long festival is a celebration of medieval mayhem and merriment, with jousting and falconry displays and street entertainers transporting people back to medieval times. There is something for all ages and if you haven’t been before, it is something not to be missed. The event takes place just a couple of miles away from us at the Sherwood Major Oak from the 3rd to 9th August 2015.

Are you a budding photographer? Why not enter our photography competition and win yourself a prize! We are looking for a photo which captures and encapsulates the essence of Sherwood Forest Holiday Park. To enter, simply upload your photo to our Facebook page before the end of August 2015. Staying with us over Summer? As a matter of security, we suggest that you ensure bikes are locked up at all times whilst on site. Bike thefts have been reported and the Police are keeping an eye on the area. Planning to stop with us for Halloween? We're now nearly full, so don't delay and book with us today. The dates for this year’s Kings Clipstone Music, Beer and Cider Festival have been released. The event will be held on the grounds of Castle Field, Kings Clipstone, Nottinghamshire from Friday 12th to Sunday 14th June. Entry and parking are free and children and pets are welcome. We have recently upgraded our on-site Wi-Fi to superfast speed, allowing you to stream live TV and Sky Go whilst staying with us. For more information and pricing, log onto the site hotspot or ask in reception. We have been informed from Western Power that the site will be without electric from 9am to 12pm on the 9th June 2015. This is so essential works can be carried out on the park. The office and reception will still be open during this time.

Can we please remind visitors that the skips are for general household waste only. Please do not put anything else into the skips other than household waste. For fires and BBQs, can we remind everyone to only use cosy logs in the fire pits. No wood is to be burned and all barbecues must be raised off the floor. Bring a dog with you? Please clean up after it and kindly respect our beautiful surroundings. It's a social and lawful responsibility.

There is now a breakfast van on site every Saturday and Sunday morning from 8am to 12pm. On a Friday night, we also have Rustic Crust Pizza available from 16.30pm to 8.40pm. Our new site wardens have started for the season. From Tuesday to Saturday you will find Anita and Steve, and at the weekend Denise and Mark, so why not say hello to them!

As you may be aware, we have had some problems over the winter season with caravans being stolen. It is very important that you inform us should you move your caravan from the site. Please also ensure that your insurance is up to date and that you have sufficient security devices to protect it.

Regarding rubbish, please ensure that you use the bins provided. It has come to our attention that people are putting items other than household waste into the skips. If you are caught doing this, a charge will be added to your account and we will terminate your contract.
