Major Oak

Just four miles from our park, the legendary Major Oak awaits. This colossal tree, around 800 years old, is a testament to the passage of time. Often linked with the tales of Robin Hood's men, it's a great spot to take a moment and marvel nature's endurance. Beyond its historical allure, the Major Oak also forms a vibrant hub for a variety of summer events. The area comes alive with activities during school holidays, from historical reenactments that whisk you back to the days of Robin Hood, to guided walks that delve into the rich ecology of the forest. For the little ones, fun-filled workshops offer a chance to learn about nature while making new friends. The grand Major Oak, at the heart of these events, is a sight that never ceases to inspire. Visit this summer, embrace the excitement, and create unforgettable memories in the splendour of the forest.

Rufford Abbey

A quick drive from our site will get you to Rufford Abbey. This historic parkland has something for everyone, from peaceful walks around the lake and woodlands, to fun-filled activities like mazes, sculptures, and even adventure golf. It's a great spot to unwind, soak up some history, and grab a bite to eat. Through summer Rufford springs to life with a range of events for all ages. Young adventurers can enjoy the thrill of a Superhero Trail, or immerse themselves in the enchantment of a live outdoor theatre adaptation. Interactive sing-a-longs, memorable meet-and-greets with beloved characters, and traditional family shows provide plenty of family fun. Food enthusiasts can savour afternoon tea, whilst nature lovers encounter animals from local farms. Discover Rufford Abbey's vibrant summer offerings and create lasting memories amidst its historic beauty.

Creswell Crags

For a unique adventure, head eight miles out to Creswell Crags. This stunning limestone gorge features a variety of caves and rock shelters, each echoing the whispers of our prehistoric ancestors. As a nature lover, you'll appreciate the diversity of species and plants here. During summer, Creswell bustles with intriguing and interesting activities, suited to travelers of all ages. Take part in a butterfly trail, exploring the lifecycle of the peacock butterfly. Experience the thrill of the Stone Age safari, which offers a fascinating look into ice age creatures. Pond dipping events open doors to discovery, and hands-on workshops invite you to try flintknapping, an ancient Stone Age craft. All of these activities, set against the breathtaking backdrop of the limestone gorge, make a summer visit to Creswell Crags an unforgettable exploration of history and nature.

Steam Railway

A stone’s throw from our park is Nottinghamshire's only narrow gauge steam railway. Situated between Mansfield and the historic village of Edwinstowe, this quaint railway offers a leisurely ride through charming farmland. Don't miss the on-site playground and picnic area to complete a lovely day out, just a short walk from our main park entrance. Visitors often commend the friendly staff, who strive to provide a memorable experience for all ages. The on-site playground and picnic area are popular spots that promise fun-filled moments. For those seeking souvenirs to remember their journey, the gift shop houses a variety of reasonably priced items to choose from.
